Science/Writing
The children were invited to experiment with objects that could be set in motion. They were asked to choose WHAT they wanted to move, HOW they would move it (fast, slow, straight)/wanted it to move and to observe the results of their attempts.
They recorded one of their experiments in their science journals.
Literacy
Each reading group reread their just right book that was introduced yesterday. We are practicing the use of a storyteller's voice.
Children created (drew, colored and painted) an Easter card.
Reader's Workshop
We observed how helpful the picture in a just right book can be read an unknown word.
Math
We reviewed and practiced writing number sentences for different number combinations of a given number.
We visited the computer lab and the children learned a new math game, "Penny Cup" - a missing addend game.
P.E.
In the classroom - Mr. Gray and a nutritionist from York Hospital, shared information about the mango. The children had an opportunity to taste one, learned a song about the mango and reviewed what an important part nutrition plays in being "fit".
