Writer's Workshop
I shared some of the classes' "how-to" booklets from Wednesday to help children get ideas for new "how-to" books.
Children completed their "how-to" booklet about a topic of their choice and/or started a new one!
Literacy Activity
We took a "Spring" walk around the school and amazingly there were many Spring sights to see!
The children read and discussed a Scholastic News about what is going on in the soil during Spring! There was repetitive text for the children to chime in and read chorally.
Story
We have been reading short sections of a non-fiction book about cobras which the class seems to be fascinated with (Tucker's library book! :)
We also read, "When the Root Children Wake Up", a fantasy about the fairy world and the changing seasons.
Math
The children estimated and then counted how many mini Easter eggs were in a container.
We played an attribute game - the children asked questions to determine which shape was the mystery shape. They could ask, "Is it...." questions - Is it red? Is it big? Is it thick? etc.
The Art Studio was our Friday special.
