Writer's Workshop
We reviewed our writer's checklist to determine if a writing project is done:
spaces
words and pictures match
begins with a capital letter
ends with punctuation
words have been stretched to hear as many sounds a possible
Literacy
*children reread their new just right books and then wrote about what happened in the story
*iPads and the Starfall program
*labeling the parts of a cow
Reader's Workshop
children were asked to sort their books into 3 piles - just right, too easy and too hard, we discussed why each kind of book belonged in that pile
Math
*adding and subtracting with calculators (introduction to the add and subtract symbols on the keypad
*adding numbers to our growing number scrolls
Story - "Milk", a nonfiction story about how the milk gets from the cow to you!
