Children are working on writing so that "readers can read" - remembering spaces, and adding as many letters as they can identify for each word.

*Children practiced reading their "just right" books individually with the teacher. They also drew and wrote about their book

*Illustrating a booklet about a fiesta
Reader's Workshop
Children practiced reading the whole time independently (7 minutes), and then sharing a book with a partner (7 minutes). We had a discussion about what the setting is in a story and many children offered to share what the setting was for their book.

Introduction to capacity - children explored various sized containers and predicted which would hold the most beans. They tested their predictions and determined which container had the greater capacity.
