Science/Observing and Recording
*Children observed the effect of big and small pushes on still objects - they got the to "start moving" and then shared how the push or pull effected the path or the motion of the object.
*Observations were recorded in their science journals.
Literacy Centers
*Scholastic News - children read about the wind and how it moves things. We watched a mini video clip about wind and how it can help (move seeds, cool us off) or hurt (tornadoes, hurricanes).
*Penmanship practice for the letters Tt. Draw and write 2 pictures that begin with that sound.
Reader's Workshop
Teaching point: readers keep their eyes on the word they are reading and speak the word they see - words and voice match!
Story - "Clouds" by Eric Carle
Math
*Review of writing number sentences to represent missing addends - "there are 10 bears, some are hidden under the cup, 5 remain. How many bears are under the cup?" 5+__=10
*Balancing weight - the children used a pan balance and a ball of playdough on one side and an object on the other. They adjusted the amount of playdough to create 2 equal sides.
