Writer's Workshop
As we continue to review the steps of writing independently, we discussed how to use classroom resources to help with our work: words on writing folders, word lists on the wall, the calendar, morning message, etc.
Literacy
Children were introduced to a new just right book. They read all together as well as independently.
We explored the inside of an egg and learned all the special names for the parts.
Reader's Workshop
Children were asked to try to make "text-to-text" connections with the books they looked at today (think of how the current book reminded them of a book they have read before).
Story
"Rosie the Spoonbill", a story brought back from Florida by Sabrina for the class to enjoy!
Math
Children played the Hiding Bears game to review number facts for 10. (3 bears outside the cup=7 bears hiding inside the cup)
Creating shapes with playdough
Exploration with calculators
Special - Library time with Mrs. Burns and Mrs. Rowan
