Science Discussion/Writing
*We continued our discussion/exploration of "motion" today with a focus on the path that a moving object takes. The children experienced walking, hopping, skipping, etc. on 3 different paths: zigzag, curvy, and straight. We also observed how a ball moved - rolled, bounced.
The children recorded their observations in their science notebooks.
LiteracyCenters (continuation of Monday's literacy rotation)
*Some children were introduced and then read in their "just right" books with their reading group.
*Some children played a sound segmentation game.
*Some children completed a rhyming word activity.
Reader's Workshop
*discussion about how reader's can help themselves with their just right books (review)
- activate prior knowledge
- look for patterns in the text
Children shared their observations with the group
Math
*review of 2 and 3 dimensional shapes - comparing objects brought from home to those in our classroom
*using the walk-on number line to solve addition problems/record the appropriate number sentence
*adding numbers to our growing number scrolls
Special - Library time with Mrs. Burns and Mrs. Rowan
