Literacy
*Those who had them, shared one part of their Summer-in-a-bag with a partner.
*We talked about how "readers" read every day both for enjoyment and to get better at reading. Children practiced choosing a book to read alone, with a partner or a small group.
*We read and sang the lyrics to our butterfly song and created the 2nd page : the caterpillar.
Math
*children discussed how numbers are important in our lives and where we might find them at school and at home.
*we went for a number walk in the hallways to find numbers and record how many on a graph.
*we completed out daily routines: the number line, calendar, and weather
*We sang a counting song, "5 Brown Buns".
Specials
*P.E. with Mr. Gray
Story
*We read, "The Little Engine That Could" and discussed how the story helps us do the best we can everyday. I shared with the children that it was this story that provided our daily motto: "I think I can, I know I can, and you can too! "
