Literacy
Children practiced reading their "And" mini booklets to bring home to read to you!
Writer's Workshop
*We looked at books that show action by adding motion marks to the drawing and the children were invited to try this in their writing today -and many did!
Reader's Workshop
*We learned that the cover of a book can give us information about what the book is going to be about. The children practiced predicting about an unfamiliar book and were then invited to make similar predictions with new books they chose to read today.
Math
We worked with 5 frames- covering each frame with a cube and discussing how many were left after we took away 1, then 2. Children were invited to note how 4 cubes on a 5 frame could look different according to how they were arranged but that there would still be 4 (i.e. 3 +1, 2+2. 4+0).
We created a tooth graph displaying who has lost a tooth and who still has all their baby teeth (Baby teeth is more so far - 10-5).
Story
We read, a tall tale about an Alaskan Totem that Sabrina had brought in for her share.
