Here are a few requests as well as some helpful information:
*one of the most important things we do each year on the first day of school is to make sure that we are putting your child on the right bus or holding them off the bus to be picked up! Please check with your neighbors or the York Weekly to be certain you know which bus will pick up your child each day. If you are to pick up your child after school, you will be asked to wait around the back of the school outside the gym doors. The students are released one child at a time as they will be asked to identify you in the school yard. I will check this information with you when you come on September 29th for our Sneak a Peek visit. Your child is precious to us!
*Sneak a Peek, Wednesday, August 29th, 1:15-2:00 Please join us for a practice bus ride at 1:15 and then a classroom visit at 1:30. It would be helpful to know if you are not able to come to this event by sending me an email at this address - [email protected]
* please pack an extra change of clothes in a large labeled ziploc bag for your child - just in case of a spill! I will keep this extra set in the classroom.
*your child will bring a blue home communication folder home in their backpack each day. This is for me to deliver schoolwork or notes to you and for you to deliver any notes/mail to me! It will go home each day and I ask you to please return it each morning.
*Children are asked to please bring 2 healthy snacks to school each day (please do not send candy or cake :). We will have one snack time in the morning but many children are happy to have 2 quick snacks. It is helpful if snacks are packed separately from lunch as children may get confused if they have home lunch about what to eat and when! If possible, please put snacks in the small front zipper pocket of the backpack so it is easily accessible and identifiable. Please remember that we are a "nut free school" to help keep all our students safe. :)
*Please remind your child each day if they have "lunch from home" or are buying "school lunch". A VES lunch menu will be available on the VES website in a couple of weeks. Typically children may choose from the "hot" meal of the day or yogurt/pretzels, hummus/veggies, sunbutter/jelly, or tuna sandwich. Children may purchase school lunch as needed (or wanted). You may send a check to school to put on your child's account - payable to "York Nutrition Program", or you may create an account online - here is the link: drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B70HW2-GhskxUzM3ZWpqeDczckU
