Today's Activities
Science work
We read a book, "How Things Move", to review our discussion about motion. We also looked at the photos that the children asked to have recorded on our motion walk on Tuesday. We talked about some of the descriptive words that help tell about motion (fast, slow, straight path, zigzag, etc.)
The children started a "Motion" science journal. Their first entry was a drawing of someone in motion.
Math
*Review of the Hiding Bears game - this was an assessment.
*Telling, drawing and writing number stories (addition and subtraction)
*Adding numbers to number scrolls
*Top-it (numbers to 20)
Story - "Penguin and Pinecone" - the story of true friendship.
Literacy Centers
*read to self/read to the teacher
*word work - where do you hear the sound? (beginning, middle, end)
*Scholastic News, "Rosa Parks" and video, "Even one small person can make a difference"
Special - Library
