Children went back to reread and edit their "How to Make a Snowman" booklets - adding words and details.

*Bears on the Bus - making groups of 10 and recording the groupings
*Growing Train game - introduction to the + sign, rolling a die to add cubes to build a train of 12 "cars"
*Draw a bug - 10 parts (reading teen numbers)
Literacy Center
Working with the -at word family, building and writing rhyming words.
Story
"Cactus Hotel" - the story of a saguaro cactus and it's inhabitants
Reader's Workshop
Our lesson today was how to make a new word a "snap word" - look at it, take a picture with your eyes, cheer it 2 times (a-t, at, a-t, at), write it, check it and read it!
Special - Art class with Mrs. Parry
Assembly -school wide assembly to learn about the 100th day food drive for the York Fook Pantry. We celebrated the January birthday students and heard a Native American folk tale - "Rabbit and the Snow" or why rabbit looks the way he does today.
