Today's Activities
Writer's Workshop
We reviewed the writing process - "think, draw, write" and also how to stretch words and record the sounds you hear for each word.
Math
We explored the number 4 - partners made sets of 4 objects. Children practiced writing the number 4 first on whiteboards and then on their special page in their number writing book.
Story
We read, "Dirt Boy" that Declan brought in because we read "Harry the Dirty Dog" yesterday and he thought we would like it - he was right, we did!
Literacy Centers
*We practiced reading and saying the sounds of the alphabet.
*We sang our alphabet songs for letters A (Alice and the alligator), B (Bubba and Bingo the bears), and C (Can you bake a cake?)
*We talked about how important it is to think about what you are looking at in a book (non-fiction) because there is a lot to see when you look carefully. This is one way to learn about new things.
Children practiced with a non-fiction book of their choice - "Look, Think, Read, Learn".
Special - Music with a substitute teacher, Mrs. Littlefield (who taught at CRES for many years and is now retired) and P.E. with Mr. Demeritt.
