Today's Activities
Science - Big and Little Pushes and Pulls
The children experimented with toy cars, alternately pushing or pulling them with gentle, moderate, and hard pushes and pulls. They were to observe how the strength of the push or pull effected the path and speed. They recorded their observations in their science journals.
Math
The children created counting loops with a pipe cleaner and 6,7,or 8 beads. They used the loops to create different number combinations for their chosen number. They recorded these number sentences (models) in their math books (i.e. 6=4+2, 6=3+3, 6=5+1).
We are learning the 5's counting pattern to 100 and practice this most days as well.
Literacy Centers
*the children were introduced to a new app on the iPad, "Epic". This app features over 100 books for the children to listen to and follow along as the text is read.
*Draw and write - the children have a monthly writing journal where they draw and write about something they like to do during that time of year.
*Read to self - the children practiced reading all the just right books in their book bags independently.
