Writer's Workshop
We read several examples of how to make a good beginning to a story -something to grab the reader's attention. The children were invited to try using a strong beginning in their own story.
Science/Literacy
We began a new unit of stuy today - Pushes and Pulls. We practiced lots of "motions" in the classroom and then spoke about speed, path, and time. We went on a Motion Walk throughout the school and generated lots of vocabulary to describe what we saw. The children got to choose which motions we would record with our camera.
Reader's Workshop
Children learned some fancy terminology today - "activating prior knowledge" - and used a story time book, "Go Dog, Go!" as an example to share their prior knowledge.
Math
*Children added numbers to a 100 chart puzzle
*Children used 3 inch paper squares to measure themselves (with a partner) to determine if they were tall enough to go on a ride at the amusement park. They recorded their results.
Special - Music class with Mrs. Keating
