Today's Activities
Writer's Workshop
Our mini lesson today focused on "being brave" and trying to take on a challenge. Children are encouraged to try and draw that tricky picture if that is what they really want to tell about or to try and "spell" that tricky word - writers do the best they can and keep going. Like the Little Engine That Could, "I think I can, I think I can.." - the power of positive thinking!
Math
We tackled writing the number 5 today - a tricky one for many! The children also collected and shared a group of 5 objects with the class.
Story
We read, "Creak, Said the Bed", a silly story about a family on a stormy night - all 3 children wind up in the bed so that it eventually cracks and breaks!
Literacy Centers
*Children practiced their name with lower case letters by dotting the model with paint.
*Children used letter tiles to spell their names and classmates names by using a name card.
*IPads were used to practice writing upper and lower case letters
Specials: P.E. and Music
