Writer's Workshop
Children had a chance to review their new published "book" and add details, words or another page.
Each child shared their booklet with a group from the class.
Literacy
Children practiced spelling "Pete the Cat's" first name - with a capital P.
We read a predictable booklet about Pete and his colorful shoes.
Reader's Workshop
Children "shopped" for 3 new books for their bookbags.
Practice reading with a partner (book in the middle, flat on table, eyes on the book)
Math
*# writing practice - 8
*pocket problems - children had to predict (figure) how many counters were in the pocket based on how many were added or taken away.
*quick looks - practice "seeing" a number of dots (not counting) - looking for recognizable groups - i.e. 2 dots +3 dots is 5.
