Today's Activities
Special Guest
Mrs. Benoit, our school counselor visited with the first of many social skills lessons. She talked about the different kinds of feelings children have and how she helps children with feelings that are too big - too sad, too angry, too excited. She also read, "The Little Engine That Could" and talked about how we all need to try our best just like the little engine in the story.
Writer's Workshop
We reviewed some of the wonderful teaching stories children had worked on yesterday and talked about how you could start a new teaching story or tell something new about the same topic as yesterday.
Literacy
Children completed a Scholastic News with Mrs. Toohey about taking care of the classroom. Children saw a mini video on this topic as well as a video about making crayons.
Assessment
Children completed their first STAR assessment using an iPad. The assessment will help create a baseline for where children currently are with some math and literacy skills.
Math
*Children learn that patterns can repeat or grow. We use shapes to describe the patterns we see.
*Exploration of the number 8, creating sets with a partner.
Story "Harry the Dirty Dog"
Share - Kaia presented her share
Special - Art studio with Miss LaRochelle
