Today's Activities
Writer's Workshop
The children were introduced to "vowels" today. We learned a song to help us remember the short vowel sounds and added a chart with pictures to our writing tools to assist with stretching words and hearing sounds.
Math
*Monster Squeeze - working with numbers 0-20 and guessing numbers that are more or less than a given number.
*Dot-to-dot - reading and counting numbers to 20
Story
"Charlie Needs a Cloak" - we read about a shepherd long ago who had to make his own cloak from wool and read about the steps from shearing the sheep to weaving the wool into cloth. We cooked some cranberries to create our own dye like Charlie did from pokeberries. We will use the natural dye to color our tooth fairy fabric for our pillows to be made soon!
Literacy
We learned a new poem (nursery rhyme) today, "Petter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater". The children practiced reading and reciting the poem and created an illustration for the poem.
Special - Art
