Today's Activities
Writer's Workshop
We shared children's writing to demonstrate all the great work that is being done - using classroom resources (like words found on the morning message), stretching words, using our new spelling words (words we can spell all by ourselves), using speech bubbles, telling a story over 3-4 pages and more! :)
Math
*practice counting collections in different arrangements (line, circle, scattered).
*printing a given number of sea creatures for a class book (number determined by a given card)
*sorting class collections and sharing what categories they created - explain and describe
Story
"Click, Clack, Boo!" - Farmer Brown does not like Halloween (it scares him!) but his farm animals conspire to change his mind!
Literacy Centers
* Practice reading, "Little Things"
*Scholastic News about Fire Safety
*Work with the letter and sound for "W", with Wendy Witch - children sort pictures to go into Wendy's cauldron - she accepts only words that begin with "w".
Special - Art is scheduled today but the children enjoyed a visit from the York Fire Department in this time period.
Volunteer - Claire Guillemette, a community volunteer
