Today's Activities

*Children were asked to draw and write a "teaching" story - something that they know a lot about and can teach others.
*We read Donald Crewes teaching book, "Freight Train" as an example of a teaching book.
Reader's Workshop
*We reviewed what readers do during our reader's workshop:
walk quietly to a table,
hold books by the spine,
turn the pages by the corners
return books to the tub so they are facing front
read quietly
stay in your seat the whole time
Literacy
* Children practiced reading their songbooks, left to right and top to bottom - they are all finished!
Math
*Exploration of the number 8 - sets of 8
*Using informal language to describe, compare and contrast shapes.
*We learned a song about shapes and read, "The Shape of Things".
