A special welcome to our new friend, Eden Ramos! :)
Writer's Workshop
*Children continue to learn how to stretch a word they are trying to write to hear all the sounds and to keep "rereading" the word to know what comes next.
Literacy Centers
*Children practiced reading "Pumpkins Everywhere". They identified each word unit on the page by putting a circle around it. (differentiating between letters and words)
*Practice spelling the word "like" using letter tiles and white boards. Each child wrote their own sentence,
"I like _____."
Reader's Workshop
*Mini lesson: readers read the pages of a book in order to help them understand the story.
Story
"Ox Cart Man" was a great vehicle for discussing life in York long ago. It depicts a rural family in Maine (or NH), making or growing everything they need for a year and then trading or selling things in Portsmouth to purchase whatever else was needed.
Computer Lab - children practiced a new math game, "Monster Squeeze", which focuses on numbers that are "more than" or "less than" another number.
Math
*we discussed the attributes of a circle and compared them to that of a triangle. Children cut out pictures of circles to add to our circle collage.
Special - Music class with Mrs. Keating
