Literacy
*Children participated in a group read of a Scholastic News about caterpillars.
Writer's Workshop
*Children continue to practice the workshop procedures more independently: name on paper, date stamp, think, draw, write, edit (check your work), start a new piece.
Reader's Workshop
*We practiced "what readers do" - move carefully to a table, look at books the whole time, whisper, turn pages carefully and lay books flat on the table.
Math
*Children practiced looking at dot configurations, representing numbers from 1-5, and trying not to count but to describe what they saw - 2 dots in both corners make 4, etc.
*Our number of the day was 7, children created sets of 7 objects with a partner.
Story
Llama, Llama, and Bully Goat (discussion of what a bully is/does and what to do if you are "bullied" - tell them to stop, walk away, get help from a grownup).
Special
P.E. - the children had a guest speaker from York Hospital to teach the children about taking care of their bodies with good food like fruits and vegetables. This program was presented in our classroom.
