Writer's Workshop
Children continue to write one page stories, or booklets, thinking, sketching, and writing (stretching words to write all the letters for sounds that they can hear.
Literacy Centers
*Children practiced singing our song about the word "like". They built the word with letter tiles, wrote the word on a white board and then drew and wrote, " I like ____".
*We read a Scholastic News about Fire Safety. The children shared what they knew about fire safety basics.
Reader's Workshop
*Children practiced reading with a character's voice (if appropriate for their book).
Story
"Plimouth Plantation" and "Charlie Needs a Cloak". We continued our discussion about "Long Ago" and how people had to make or grow everything they needed.
Math
*Children worked with a 5 frame, seeing and comparing the different combinations that make 5, 4, 3, and 2.
*We played Count and Sit, counting backward from 6-0
*We read, "Ten Hungry Caterpillars", adding one more to each page.
