Today's Activities
Writer's Workshop
Children practiced stretching words again today. We worked together to stretch and spell the words monkey bars. Children are encouraged to try and draw and write at writing time, stretching words to write the dominant sounds they hear.
Math
Partners counted a set of 3 and shared it with the group. We are learning that when you add 1 more it is the next number in the counting pattern.
We talked about our birthday graph on the classroom door and counted how any students had a birthday each month. Each child decorated the number that reflects their age and will add it to our birthday graph tomorrow.
Story
We read, "Harry the Dirty Dog" at story time. We discussed how sometimes when you make a mistake you can figure out a way to fix it like Harry did in the story.
Literacy Centers
*STAR assessment - each child completed this individual assessment for early literacy skills using an iPad
*Rainy day - children drew and painted a picture for their Weather book.
*Mrs. Eaves, our special ed. tech in the afternoon, introduced the children to our listening center. They listened to the story, Mr. Fox and the Falling Leaves.
Special - Library time with Mrs. Dupre and Mrs. Burns
